SUMMER SONIC 2023 will be held for three days from August 18 (Fri.) to 20 (Sun.) at Makuhari New Urban Center, including the Makuhari venue!

“MICUSRAT – Loves music and art -“, a project sponsored by the Agency for Cultural Affairs to develop Japan into a global center of culture and art.
During the period of SUMMER SONIC, an installation of artist “YOSHIROTTEN’s” masterpiece “SUN” will be exhibited at various locations in Makuhari New City Center (Makuhari Kaihin Park, Mihamaen, bus stops, the square in front of Makuhari Messe, the beach of Makuhari, etc.).

The “SUN” installation, which will appear at night in the plaza in front of Makuhari Messe, will be one of the largest LED displays in Japan, and will be fantastically enhanced by sound and fiber beams made visible by mist. On the evening of the 19th, electronic musicians Kuniyuki and Takakahn will perform a special live audio performance.

Artworks are exhibited on the berm, the boundary between the ocean and the beach. What kind of mental landscape will “SUN,” standing in the calm seascape, bring to those of us who freely sit on the beach and appreciate it? The installation consists of a 2.8 meter high monolithic “SUN”.
The exhibition will be held at the SUMMER SONIC beach stage area.

About YOSHIROTTEN

Born in 1983, Pisces.
YOSHIROTTEN is an artist who moves between multiple realms: fine art and commercial art, the digital and the physical, urban youth culture and the natural world. After solo exhibitions in Tokyo, London, and Berlin, he held a large-scale exhibition “FUTURE NATURE” at TOLOT heuristicSHINONOME in 2018. Under the theme of “visualization of the invisible,” he presented a huge installation combining two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and video works in a space of 1300 square meters. He also participated in the Tokyo Pop Underground exhibition at Jeffrey Deitch in New York, and his “Resolution” series, which reconstructs photographs by Daido Moriyama and Wen Xia, was exhibited at Isetan Shinjuku, followed by exhibitions in Guangdong Province, China and Hong Kong.
The “Resolution” series, which reconstructs the photographs of Daido Moriyama and Wen Xia, has been exhibited internationally.
He is also an art director with a wide range of clients from European and US luxury brands, domestic and international musicians, Tokyo’s underground clubs to contemporary art fairs. His design studio, YAR, handles a vast amount of work in almost all areas of commercial visual art, including advertising, events, logotypes, interior/exterior design, web, and video.

MICUSRAT PRODUCTION, an anagram of “MUSIC” and “ART” that reads as “Mic, Us, Reach, Artistic, Transformation”, is a specially formed organization in charge of the project. This is a project by the Agency for Cultural Affairs to promote Japan as a center for the development of art and culture in the world by working with artists to produce works that create “new value” through the fusion of music and art.
